I’m glad you’re here. Welcome, Sister.
As Sigma Kappas, we find many ways in which the mystic bond connects us. Age, race, background, career, political beliefs... there is no aspect of our valued diversity that can overshadow our sisterhood. As alumnae, we enjoy greater flexibility to determine the degree of our involvement in a chapter. I’ve been a member of the Phoenix Alumnae Chapter since 1999, but throughout the last two decades I’ve experienced varying levels of engagement. I have served in executive board offices for most of these years, and during others I stepped back, only attending book club meetings.
So allow me to welcome you. I encourage you to spend some time thinking about what brought you here, and whether you’d like to be involved—and if so, how? What do you want from your membership right now? If you’re interested in leadership opportunities, ask us about officer positions and other ways you can develop experience in a leadership role with our chapter. If you just want to meet and get to know some sisters, join us at any of our events or Special Interest Groups (Out on the Town or Hooked on Books). Do you have something else in mind that you’d like to bring to the chapter? We are open to new ideas for making positive impacts on our community, our sorority, our relationships, and ourselves.
